It wasn’t long ago that this was said about The Graeme Watkins Project
“More than just about any other South African band of the moment, GWP sounds like a band headed for a stadium-sized future.” – Rolling Stone
It’s not often that the South African music scene sees a band explode the way The Graeme Watkins Project did in 2011. After the release of their debut album “Corridors of The Mind” in March 2011, the band’s spacing in the South African music industry changed dramatically, making them a hot product at most events and festivals around the country. In the space of one year they produced 5 Top 10 hits singles from the album. “Music Affair” and “London Bridge” still sit in my top 100 of all time great songs from South Africa, and probably will for a while to come.
2012 Saw them tour the album extensively both in SA as well as internationally, and working with international producers on material for their follow-up album, “Soldier On” which was released mid 2013.
Now, Graeme Watkins Project are back with a new song which again brings a dirty, edgy, rough approach to a medley of pop, indie, rock and electronic genres.
“You Came Running” was added to our Scatterlings of Africa New Music Spotify playlist a week ago, and has put our ears into a happy place many times since then. Now the video has been released too.
